A Perfect Family Winter Vacation - Activities for Children

Thursday Night Lights - Ski Down

Join in on a complimentary guest ski-down each Thursday night throughout the season. Families board the Buckaroo Express Gondola and then ski down with guides, carrying special glow sticks. A fireworks display on the mountain follows. Families must register and complete a waiver at the Beaver Creek Children's Ski and Snowboard Center. Adults and children must be able to ski or snowboard at level 5 (intermediate) or better and have their own ski or snowboard equipment. Ice Skating

The Black Family Ice Rink has become wildly popular—more than 40,000 visitors took to the ice last season. The ice rink is a year-round amenity, located in the heart of the Village Plaza. Open Daily from 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Skate rentals are available. For more information and prices, please call 970-845-0438.
Look for Friday's and Sunday's Disco Skate from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with a DJ and light show!
 

Kids Adventure Zones

Designated areas on Beaver Creek Mountain are just for skiing and snowboarding kids. Here they can check out a hibernating bear cave, an old ghost town, an ancient Indian burial ground, an abandoned mine, and more! 
 

Adventure Ridge On Vail Mountain

Experience twilight entertainment at 10,000 feet with Vail's day and night activity center atop Vail Mountain. You'll ride the Eagle Bahn Gondola to the top of Adventure Ridge and choose from five dining options, enjoy great views and a host of great activities for kids. The gondola ride is complimentary after 2:00 p.m and the activities run from 2:30-9:00pm. Activities include tubing, ski biking, ice skating, kids snowmobiling (6-10yrs), bungee trampoline and snowshoe tours.

Dogsledding

Dogsled tours are available in the morning and the afternoon in the Cordillera area west of Beaver Creek. There are two people per sled. The tour lasts approximately two hours and is about seven miles long. Transportation is included.

Hot Air Ballooning

Soar the skies and enjoy the pristine vistas. The temperature is actually warmer in the air than at ground level! Tours include transportation, champagne, certificate and ceremony. Ages 6 and up. Camelot Balloons: Full excursion - approx. 60 - 75 min. A taste of ballooning: 30-40 minutes.

Sleigh Ride Dinners

What better way to travel to dinner than on a sleigh? Dash through the snow and take in views of the surrounding Gore mountain range as horses pull you on an evening sleigh ride. Small World Play School located in Beaver Creek Village, offers day care service for children 3 months to 6 years of age. Lunch and activities are provided for your child's enjoyment. Reservations are required, call (970) 845-5325. 
 

Guided Nature Hikes at McCoy Park in Beaver Creek

The family will find fun in identifying evergreens by touch, spotting wildlife tracks, and finding deer nibbles on an aspen tree during a snowshoe trek in McCoy Park. Families can sign up at the Beaver Creek Nordic Center; 970-845-5313

Family Swim at Avon Recreation Center

Wednesday and Friday Night Tubing for Kids

Gather in front of McCoy's for some tubing fun in a safe environment from 4:30 - 6:00 pm. Geared for kids ages 5 - 12, this is a free activity and tubes are provided. Dress warmly. A parent or guardian will need to sign a waiver.


Bowling
Located behind the Eagle Diner in Eagle, 20 miles west of Avon, the Back Bowl features 2 computerized bowling lanes. There are several casual restaurants around the bowling alley, including the Eagle Diner, JR Crickets, Moes BBQ and Pazzo's Pizzeria.
